Christmas mood?

Traduction française plus bas
Finished your shopping yet?
Of course! Not.
But I am getting there.

Following some advice that I don't know why I listened to, this is currently happening in my bathroom:
Suffice to mention a request for an expensive Playmozil set, a very determined husband, a famous auction website and here you go.
And the advice was:
'Don't forget to sterilize everything... the stuff people dunk their fake teeth in is really good for that'

So off I go to a chemist, struggle next to a very nosy customer to find the words to explain to a very annoyed looking chemist, that I am looking for denture cleaner.

Why did I do this exactly? Just to make my life more complicated ? It's not as if I had to buy 60 papercups, bake 2 cakes for tomorrow, feed hungry children etc. The Man is attending a Chrismas party at work, that's probably for the better...

And by the way, MiddleSister requested two and only two things, but "That's all I want and if I can't have them, then I want nothing."
Great.
So considering that she KNOWS she won't get either, you could say that she is blackmailing us. Using up her last wish. Betting against all odds. Throwing a gauntlet.
So.
You may want to know what those two wishes are?
A dog
A Nintenzo DS

Sure enough, I started thinking again about a Nintenzo DS this morning, that's how smart she is. She knows us. She knows me.
Sadly for her and luckily for us, the Man and I are both exactly on the same wavelength here.
Which leaves us with an empty list and not many ideas on how to please her.

Mauvaise Humeur de Noël

Tu as terminé tes courses de Noël?

On l'a décoré.

Warning: this is not a translation at all, totally different post on the same topic!
I bought a fake one today, even though I always hated them.
I was successfully carrying it whilst riding then pushing my bicycle, when I realised that I was going to walk straight in the middle of a beautiful range of real ones, different sizes, beautifully arranged on the wide sidewalk.
Ahem. Too late to walk the other way. I push my bike, quickly, the bulky package on one side, the vendors are all out there, chatting, hopefully they won't.... "Hey, that's NOT a fake tree, is it??"
Oh well. I think they saw me.
I gave up, looked him straight in the eye and gave him my biggest most charming smile: 'sorry...!' and rode away in the sunset. Well, I live round the corner, so not too far after all. They will see me again. Tomorrow morning on my way to school with the girls and tomorrow night on my way back and every schoolday for all of December. I have a feeling they won't let me forget it.

They got the last word

(Traduction française en bas)
Cycling home yesterday, we are nearly there.
There was a featherlike quality to my girls, something...
was missing:
their schoolbags !

"Where are your schoolbags???"

Looks. Panicked looks. From the oldest at least. The younger one didn't really seem to care.
"Ow mommy, did we leave them somewhere?"
-I don't know, did you?
-Well, I don't know either."

The cruel mother dropped them at home with instructions to have a snack, watch a video and do NOTHING ELSE OR ELSE, climbed on her bike again and cycled to school. Grumbling.
Grumbling for about 2 minutes until she realised that being on her own on her bicycle at 4 pm is not something she does often and the ride was quite pleasant!
One schoolbag had been left outside the schoolgate where we had stopped for a tiny snack, the other one outside the library where we did a quick stop to return some books.

I guess I better be grateful that I did not have any more children with me last night, as the dropping schoolbags everywhere seemed to be contagious.
Was it an unconscious revenge for the morning cruelty ?

(Scroll down for english)

Nothing like a Mom.

A Mom who knows how to use her phone to take a picture of the spelling list to email it to a schoolfriend, the one we rang the night before to ask him about the history homework.

A Mom who refused to lend her gloves on this particularly nippy day, because she has been lending them for three days in a row to little girls who don't take any notice of her when she reminds them to take their own before leaving the house. So at the first set of lights, the little girls not so little that they can't take responsibility hold out their cold hands and moan in a pitiful voice "Mummy, my hands are freezing." Well this mother was very cruel this morning and would not relent.
Ow, guilty guilty guilty. I have to review the gloves and scarves basket in the hallway, it's probably not well organised enough if they can't/won't grab theirs in the morning. It has to be my fault, right?
'Cause if it's not my fault, I loose my irreplaceability.

Sometimes, (only sometimes) I would love to be irreplaceable in an office, where guilttrips wouldn't be so frequent and so overconsuming, and where I would get paid. Sounds tempting, doesn't it?

My car is not a bedroom but if I want to I can make it look like one.

"Allô? Je viens solliciter tes services de déménageuse.... T'es libre demain matin? Avec ta grosse voiture? Please?"

c'est moi / that's me!

"Helene! Are you and your big car available tomorrow for a bit of furniture moving?" The voice on the answering machine sounded hopeful.
I love this friend, I like to help and I do have a big car. So there. Which led me to discover, at last after 3 years of ownership of this car, an extremely useful/less functionality :
the BED!
We had never unfolded the very back bench this way, never needed to. But now that we know, we might....
what? go camping in it with the 4 children?

I don't think so.
Come on, get real. We are tiny french people, ok, even for french standards, but still.

Yeah but there is this tiny voice in my head that says 'But wouldn't it be fun to try, just once? Come ooooon, you know you want to.... '

Being me is tiring sometimes.
